OAT
Delivers ROI Leadership in RFID for the
Retail Industry
Collaboration
with Intel Provides a Pathway to Long-Term
Competitive Advantage
WALTHAM,
MASS. – MAY 25, 2005–OATSystems,
Inc., the recognized RFID framework
leader, today announced the RFID Retail
Leadership Initiative in collaboration
with Intel, the world’s largest
chip manufacturer, to drive adoption
of radio-frequency identification (RFID)
in the retail industry. OAT and Intel
are working together to deliver targeted
RFID solutions that provide immediate
benefits for retailers, and a clear
first step to building competitive
advantage through adoption of RFID.
The
RFID Retail Leadership Initiative combines
OAT’s industry-leading RFID framework
software and Intel’s breadth
of technology and services to help
retailers take the first step toward
a collaborative digital supply chain
that more efficiently manages inventory
and goods movement from vendor to the
retail shelf. Together these industry
leaders are providing retailers with
a long-term roadmap that makes RFID
adoption easier and delivers the first
standards-based, targeted solution
delivering ROI.
“RFID
holds the potential to transform the
supply chain, but many retailers are
struggling to figure out how to get started,” commented
Prasad Putta, OAT Founder and CEO. “Intel
and OAT launched The RFID Retail Leadership
Initiative to identify leading retailers
that believe successful application of
RFID will create long-term competitive
advantage. The program enables retailers
to get started by providing a long-term
pathway to ROI and delivering the first
targeted solution.”
The
collaboration was borne out of the
two companies’ joint
success over the past year deploying
RFID solutions for several leading retailers,
including: store back-room inventory
management system for high-value goods;
automated receiving solution to eliminate
shipment errors between distribution
centers and stores; a secure supply chain
solution to reduce shrinkage.
In
addition to the standards-based platform
that supports RFID technologies, Intel
also offers RFID services through its
professional service organization,
Intel® Solution
Services.
“OAT
and Intel Solution Services have developed
a proven approach for identifying tactical
and strategic opportunities to drive
ROI in RFID deployments in the retail
industry,” stated Andrew Moore,
Director of Services Line Management,
Intel Solution Services. “Intel
is working with OAT because of the company’s
unique experience delivering scalable,
ROI-based solutions to many of the retailers
driving industry adoption of RFID.”
“Intel
works closely with retail and consumer
products industry leaders to help solve
business problems through innovative
solutions based on cooperative platforms
that support a worldwide digital supply
chain,” said Jon Stine, Global
Retail-Consumer Products Industry Strategic
Manager, Intel Corporation. “Intel
technologies provide the business transformation
platforms that power the readers, servers,
desktops, mobile devices and networks
that gather and manage EPC-RFID data.”
